North Road Veterinary Centre is a dedicated small animal practice offering a caring, professional and friendly service to you pets. Our team is made up of two full time vets, four nurses and two receptionists. We also have regular vets who help to cover some of our weekend clinics.

We firmly believe that continuity of care is important in giving the best possible service to you and your pet. During the week we are happy to make appointments for you to see the vet of your choice and will try to make a time to suit you.

North Road Veterinary Centre was one of the first practices in the area to be inspected and awarded Royal Veterinary College Accredited Small Animal Practice status in 2005. We are pleased to have maintained our high standards, and passed our most recent inspection in December 2009 with flying colours.

We aim to offer plenty of choice. Appointments are available from morning until evenings on weekdays plus Saturday mornings. We also run a cat-only clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11.00am and 12.00pm.

We are happy to make home visits, although they are not always possible at short notice as they must be arranged around pre-existing appointments and also note that we can only provide limited investigation and treatment in a home environment.

Outside normal working hours we provide a 24 hour service for emergency treatment and advice. Telephone 01761 412132 and follow the instructions to contact the duty vet.

Behind the scenes we have facilities for the investigation of illness including our in-house practice laboratory to get on-the-spot results of blood and urine samples.

A powerful X-ray machine and automatic developer gives us high definition X-rays of all sizes of animal, from guinea pigs to great danes.

We have recently upgraded our ultrasound scanner for improved non-invasive and painless investigation of  chest and abdominal problems.

Fibroptic endoscopes help us to investigate respiratory diease and digestive problems and reduce the need for invasive exploratory surgery. 

Blood pressure monitoring, ECG and pulse oximetry are also on hand to assess heart and circulatory problems

If your pet needs surgical treatment they will visit our operating theatre. We maintain high standards of sterility. Surgical hats, masks and sterile gowns and gloves are used for all sterile surgery from a dog castration to an orthopaedic operation.

Dental treatment is carried out in our dental suite. As well as routine dental treatments such as descaling, polishing and extractions we are equipted with a dental X-ray machine and facilites to perform advanced procedures such as fillings and root canal therapy. We accept dental referrals from accross the South West.

We maintain close links with RCVS recognised specialists should the need arise. Complex ENT procedures can be performed by a visiting surgeon. Should advanced investigations or treatments such as MRI be required we can refer you to specialist centres that we know and trust. 

We work with animal physiotherapists and hydrotherapy centres to help your pet recover from orthopaedic procedures as quicky as possible.
